Help with Food
As of the end of March the new church building in Hesse is progressing rapidly toward completion on time. The roofing and finishing touches, like painting, are the only things left. After a good cleanup they will be ready to dedicate the building for the glory of God.
This building is much simpler than the complex built in Rigaud that was dedicated last December. While Rigaud is close to the city and has a movement of people, Hesse is remote and isolated. It is literally a village at the end of the road. Buildings are simple because they are expensive to maintain because they are so far from building supplies. This new church building is also simple, but engineered to withstand the tropical storms that buffet the mountain top, where it stands. It is structurally sound and should withstand most earth quakes that the region can expect.
Many men and women from the Hesse area have had a chance to seize the opportunity to be employed in the building project. We employ as many as possible from the local community to provide an economic boost to the families. With the funds earned, fathers and mothers can buy needed items for their families such as medicine, clothing, farming tools and seeds.
While the building is almost complete, a drought this year has caused the construction to go over budget. Funds were used to buy and truck water to the construction site so that the construction could continue. Unfortunately the funds used were originally budgeted for the benches, pulpit and other furnishings for the building. At this time, we do not yet know how God will provide for this need, but we have faith and confidence that He will provide.
Please pray that this new building will be a beacon of light on that mountain top in Haiti. Pray that the Pastor, his team, and the teachers at the Hesse Star of Hope School will boldly share the gospel.
Pray also that the needs for the furniture and a functional sound system will be met. The cost for benches and furnishings is $11,000. A functional sound system, with generator, adds an additional $5,500.
