Star of Hope staff reports that temperatures in the Saenz Pena region of Argentina have fallen below freezing. This is causing severe problems for the poorest Toba people who live without heat and good shelter.
The cold hits the youngest children and elderly the hardest. Increased sickness is seen. The little help that Star of Hope can provide is a real blessing to those fortunate to recieve it. The cold has economic impact on a people that are already struggling to meet the basic needs.
The cold has an impact even on the work of building the new church that will be used to serve many people. This building has been under construction for some time. The local church members work on the building as they have time and energy. Because employment is sparse the construction tends to move faster during the summer. Now that the cold winter weather has set on, the church members are forced to find any work to make just a little bit of money to help feed and clothe the family.
To add insult to injury, the tiny congregation just learned that they must pay a $3,300 tax before they can lay one more brick! Money which right now is needed to feed, clothe, buy medicine and provide just a little heat to protect their children. They just don't have the cash. So construction stops.
Pablo, Star of Hope Argentina, asks that we pray with them, asking God to provide for the need. Read what Pablo wrote, translated from Spanish:
"Last night the architect was talking to me and told me that the municipality ordered to stop the work until paid tariffs (taxes).
Over there I wonder if the Lord to do this construction ... I feel a little discouraged but not defeated! I will fight as far as possible for this dream ... Sleep is not for me, is to save people, that's the only thing I want the church or even a tent. There are many beautiful things that are happening in the Church, but we still see the hand of God in finance! We wait for God's provision every day!
I must be strong so that the people are strong enough and my only recourse is prayer. Without prayer had already left the building because it brings me busy, very sad to see that is not advancing economically. However, I believe and I believe in God and what He promised us! I will not do what Abraham did when he agreed to make a covenant with Hagar (with the earth) so that the promise is fulfilled. I'm going to hold firm on the promise of God! God supports His Word when we abide in His Word!
So, I stay, I hope, I pray and worship God! Hallelujah! blessings!"
