Being a volunteer means you are willing to give your time and effort to help Star of Hope. This can range from helping during mass mailing of newsletters, speaking in churches, representing Star of Hope, or even writing letters to your friends and families promoting Star of Hope. You love it when a team returns from a short-term mission trip and shares their experiences at church and/or other community venues. You think about how much you would like to be a part of that team BUT - - and there are legitimate reasons why you cannot participate directly on a mission trip to foreign land. Well, maybe you can't actually travel but you can still be a part of a StarTeam helping minister in another country. Be a StarTeam MEMBER
Your friends are, or have been talking about their trip to Six Flags, or Branson. Maybe they took a cruise to Cozumel. Your "retired neighbors" are spending three months in Branson. Are you jealous? Don't be. There is more. Those trips (and there is nothing wrong with them) are all about the people taking them. When they come home they have pictures of themselves and what they enjoyed. It is all about them (or you if you took a trip). Here is a better offer. It is going to be a life changing and spiritually invigorating experience. You will quickly find that meeting, helping, and encouraging people is far more gratifying than you can imagine - IF you are willing to be stretched. This is a trip that is not about you! Do you want to make a difference? Great, but don't make a difference for the sake of your own name; otherwise you'll be too much like those folks who tried to build a tower to heaven.
