The difficult and severely delayed academic school year of 2019-20 in Haiti is over. Last autumn term much of the schooling was destroyed due to nationwide demonstrations and violent protests.
Once the spring term started, it was with a six-day school week for the children to make up for lost schooling. Everything went well at first, but then the Covid-19 pandemic began to ravage. The schools closed and in August the delayed school year began and it ended last week.
Now our 3,500 sponsored children in our seven project villages are on a super short vacation as the next school year begins already in mid-November. Hopefully, we can then carry out the teaching in a more normal way. Children in Haiti need all the schooling they can get. In addition to education, they get lunch every school day plus they have access to clean drinking water and toilets.
Thanks to all the sponsors and donors who make the work possible in Haiti!
