STAR OF HOPE KENYA DECEMBER 2018 REPORT

Happy new year to you all.  Greetings from the children and staff at Star of Hope Kenya. We thank God for His grace that has been sufficient to us. We send our deepest gratitude to the Star of Hope International family for the support you showed us throughout 2018. A big THANK YOU to all our donors and well-wishers for being a part of the team that made a difference in our communities here in Mombasa. God bless you abundantly.

During the month of December, we took advantage of the time that our children were on holidays and did renovation for our school projects to ensure our learning facilities are in good shape for the sake of our children's welfare.   Here are the highlights of December 2018;

  1. Completion of Jimba new classrooms
  2. Fabrication of new desks and purchase of new chairs
  3. Christmas Celebrations
  4. Self-sufficiency projects

COMPLETION OF JIMBA NEW CLASSROOMS

We are happy to announce that the construction of a four-classroom building at Jimba Nursery and primary school was completed on time before the beginning of 2019 school year. We now have enough space to accommodate all our Jimba kids in their classrooms. A special thank you to all donors and well-wishers that contributed to this task. God bless you. We also congratulate team innovation which is a part of our staff for putting in many hours of labor to make this a reality. Now the school runs from Pre-primary one to grade seven.

FABRICATION OF NEW DESKS AND PURCHASE OF NEW CHAIRS

With the number of children across our school projects having been expected to increase in 2019, team innovation was also involved in the repairs and fabrication of desks that are used in classrooms by our children. 120 new desks and 50 new tables were fabricated and all the old tables and chairs repainted.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

We hope you had a merry Christmas. We had a colorful Christmas celebration with our children together with their parents at Word of Life Faith church in Mikindani. In attendance were also all the other church members. The event was graced with performances of Christmas songs and dance performances. We shared Christmas lunch together as a family after the service. The catering team organized a delicious buffet for all that were in attendance.

SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROJECTS

Gunnar Water

Selling of Gunnar bottled water production slowed down in December due to maintenance issues, however that has been taken care of and we are back to selling purified drinking water to support our programs.
