Impact and Reach
Donations help offset the cost of school fees. Most children pay 1,025 gdes (Haitian currency) every year for tuition. Without donor contributions, it would be about 4 times that amount. There are 374 children receiving a preschool, primary, and school education. 72% of students passed their final exam last year and 57% of graduating class passed the official exam to get a certificate to secondary level.
Other projects from the past included: school construction of 4 classrooms in 2002, construction of 6 classrooms in 2004, opening a secondary school to 9th grade in 2004, starting a sewing class in 2004, teacher training in 2000, 2004, 2007, and opening a seed and tools bank in 1998.
More help is still needed in this area. Expanding donor contributions could help pay for classroom improvement such as better benches, chairs, tables, and desks. Additionally, a new preschool, fence, and playground could also be an asset. Better teacher salaries, school feeding improvement, better child healthcare, sports for the school, books for students, more school uniforms, additional maintenance to buildings, more administration, and a drinking water project and an additional 6 classrooms could also be used.
