Our History
In 1969, during a revival campaign in Brazil, Swedish missionary Erik Gunnar held a dying child in his arms. That moment of heartbreak became a divine calling. And out of that encounter, Star of Hope was born—a movement rooted in faith, fueled by compassion, and committed to turning poverty into possibility. Today, the mission that began with one child now reaches families and communities all over the world, bringing hope, purpose, and transformation.
That child was Paolo—he became the first child at Star of Hope’s orphanage in Brazil and our first transformation story.
