Our partner in Belarus is the non-governmental organization "Belarusian association of assistance to children and young people with disabilities" (the NGO "BelAPDIiMI"). This organization unites on a voluntary basis more than 3500 families which look after children and young people with psychophysical disabilities. The organization was founded in 1994. Certificate of registration No 01438, registered by the decision No 254 of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus on 31 May 2006.BelAPDIiMI chairperson is Elena Titova
BelAPDIiMI's goal is to create for disabled children and young people equality with other people so far as opportunities to participate in every field of social life. The NGO BelAPDIiMI comprises 52 regional and 9 Minsk member organizations. These organizational subdivisions can develop their own programmes and participate in the national ones.

Specialist social workers organized activities for families that care for children with disabilities on the basis of the BRA-centre "Open Doors". Children and their parents from Minsk and the regions are invited.
On November 3rd, Yuriy Shulga, a surgeon from the Clinical Rehabilitation Institute (Tula, Russian Federation), gave important consultations and examined children with musculoskeletal system disorders. Sixty families from different regions could get answers to thier questions thanks to the professional help of the specialist.

On November 11, a lecture "Upbringing with loving care" was organized for parents who look after children up to three years old. The lecture was delivered by Olga Bagaeva, a teacher, psychologist, senior lactation consultant and mother of 3 children (Belarus).

Parents and specialists of NGO "BelAPDIiMI" participated in the International conference on support to children with disabilities with participation of close relatives. The conference was held in Grodno, on November 8-9, 2012. Following topics were discussed: family-oriented approach in work with families which look after children with disabilities, foundation of parents' clubs, and involvement of volunteers. Irina Logvin, specialist social worker of NGO "BelAPDIiMI", shared the work experience of the social and psychological service "Attention to a family with a special child".
On November 15, a campaign "ANTI-indifference", timed to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, was launched in Minsk on initiative of NGO "BelAPDIiMI".
The aim of the campaign is to show that people with disabilities can and must participate in social life despite all the stereotypes. Besides, the society can become more open and humane, can accept and not reject people with disabilities. Different activities will be organized in Minsk from November 15 to December 15.
Following activities were organized as part of the campaign:
Volunteers of NGO "BelAPDIiMI" worked out booklets, flyers and fridge magnets.
Short social video "ANTI-indifference" was made and demonstrated. Famous Belarusians and people with disabilities were among the main characters of the video. Photography exhibition "Devoted to mothers" continues its work. Portraits of mothers from our organization and their special children were showed in the foyer of 2 cinemas of Minsk during a month.

On November 17, an activity was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Belarus, the group "Sunny circle" and the Minsk International Women's Club which unites wives of ambassadors, diplomats and foreign representatives in the Republic of Belarus.
The actors of the Belarusian Republican Young Spectators' Theatre gave a performance "Bryk and Shusya are looking for summer". 120 families from NGO "BelAPDIiMI" from 7 regions of Belarus participated in the activity (Smorgon, Liuban, Zhodino, Logoisk, Vileika, Volozhyn and Slutsk). Photo exhibition of Stanislav Karbanovich who works in the social and labour workshop "Warm House" of NGO "BelAPDIiMI" in Oktyabrskiy district of Minsk was organized in the foyer of the theatre.
Embassy of the Czech Republic
On November 28, a charitable activity was carried out in cooperation with the high school ? 25 (Minsk). Children with and without disabilities goes to this school.
More than 50 families from Minsk city organization of NGO "BelAPDIiMI" and approximately 100 schoolchildren participated in the activity. Charitable concert with participation of children with disabilities and Belarusian singers was held in the school.

A talk-show programme "Forum" (topic "Without barriers") was organized on the initiative of NGO "BelAPDIiMI", in cooperation with the TV channel "Belarus 1".
Employees of NGO "BelAPDIiMI" suggested a script, recommended experts and guests for participation in the programme, participated in shooting of videos and the programme. Mothers from Minsk and the regions who receive support from NGO "BelAPDIiMI" actively participated in the programme. The programme was shot on November 15 and was broadcasted on December 3, 2012.
