Help with Food
One of the new projects in Haiti this year is in Bois Negresse. The construction of two class-rooms in Bois Negresse School has started and is moving at an accelerated tempo. See Bois Negresse on a map.
This project is financed by Skorped village in Sweden with a youth group called E-Team as the catalyst. A solid relationship has existed between the two villages for more than 2 years through E-TEAM’s efforts and hard work. Every year Skorped support a special project in Bois Negresse; a preschool painting project in 2012, a preschool play-ground in 2013 and 2 class-rooms construction in 2014.
At the completion of each project, Skorped village sends E-TEAM youth mission team members to complete the work and meet the population to strengthen the relationship. This year, according to the need of Bois Negresse population, Skorped Village is fund raising to help Bois Negresse to build 6 class-rooms for elementary school children that attend school. These kids are now in part learning in a tent. They have raised and transferred last year enough money to build 2 class-rooms that will be built into a module of the two class-rooms that will welcome first and second graders children. The construction has started two weeks ago and will be completed already in March.
It will be now an opportunity for the adult team from E-Team to see and appreciate for their own the value and contributions their village has brought to Bois Negresse and at the same time to learn more about Star of Hopes work by visiting other school projects in Haiti.
The construction work is moving fast so it could be completed before the arrival of E-TEAM visit in Haiti. Bois Negresse is located inside pine forest in very high altitude of 1800 meters over sea level. So Bois Negresse is the coolest place in Haiti, sometimes it snows in winter time. So I suggest E-TEAM group brings with them warm blankets and clothes to be able to stay in Bois Negresse for few days. The local community is very excited to meet for the first time the youth and the parents from Skorped on their first visit. Here they say “we cannot wait to meet them and to warmly welcome them.”
