Relief Report Ukraine with local heroes
A Season of Warmth and the Road Ahead thanks to local heroes As the harsh Ukrainian winter begins to recede and the first signs of spring appear, we are looking back on a season of critical humanitarian action. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters here in Central Kansas, our winter fuel initiative successfully bridged the gap between survival and catastrophe for thousands of families.

Impact Summary: A Winter of Resilience

Local Heroes in Kramatorsk

In Kramatorsk, your donations fueled local bakeries where volunteers and local heros, worked tirelessly to bake bread for residents who had lost all other means of cooking. By partnering with the Ukrainian Pentecostal Union, we ensured that every log of wood reached the most vulnerable regions.

“For many of the families we reached, this wasn’t just about comfort—it was the difference between life and death during the coldest nights of the year.”

Mission Update PLEASE NOTE:

“This is a longer video, but it offers a profound, deep-dive into our work in Ukraine and provides a rare, intimate look into the lives of the people we’re supporting. It shows the reality of the delivery of wood and other items, giving you an idea of how it really looks to be there.”

As winter grips Ukraine, families in the Donetsk region face a grueling reality. Persistent attacks on energy infrastructure have left cities like Kramatorsk and neighboring villages like Malotaranovka without electricity or heat for days on end.

In this video, we follow a volunteer team delivering a lifeline to those on the front lines.

What Your Support Is Doing on the Ground:

  •  Heating Homes: Providing firewood for families and the elderly who have been without light or heat for over 9 days.
  •  Baking Bread: Supplying the local church bakery with fuel for wood-burning stoves, ensuring fresh bread reaches the vulnerable.
  •  Creating Safe Havens: Supporting “warm rooms” where residents can charge phones, drink hot tea, and find a brief reprieve from the cold.

“It is a real miracle to see how the care of the donors reaches the homes of Ukrainians.”

The journey of this aid—traveling thousands of kilometers—is a testament to the power of solidarity. Even in the face of war, your kindness ensures that no one faces the winter alone.

The Shift: From Heating to Healing

While the ground is thawing, the humanitarian crisis remains acute. The end of the “heating season” does not mean the end of the struggle; rather, it shifts the nature of the need. We are now pivoting our resources to provide a Continuum of Care:

  • Food Security: Moving from fueling bakeries to providing flour, yeast, and shelf-stable proteins.
  • Healthcare Access: Delivering over-the-counter medications and hygiene kits to local clinics.
  • Rehabilitation: Assisting families in repairing minor structural damage to homes caused by the winter elements.

As melting snow reveals the scars of winter, we must transition from immediate survival to sustainable recovery. We are now delivering essential nutrition, medical supplies, and home repairs to ensure families don’t just survive the cold, but truly begin to heal and rebuild.

The cold is fading, but the hunger remains. Please donate now to provide the food, medicine, and repairs these resilient families desperately need.
