Deeper thoughts from our CEO or Why your impact saves lives.
Look, I get it. When you turn on the news and see Haiti in the headlines again, it feels like a bottomless pit. It’s easy to throw your hands up and think nothing ever changes. But out here, we know you don’t fix a whole field by staring at the fence line—you start with the first row.
Why we say impact saves lives… When we help one child at a time at the Star of Hope school, it isn’t some vague “global crisis” anymore. It’s a real kid getting a hot plate of rice and beans. For about $40, you aren’t just sending “aid”—you’re covering a month of school and a daily meal for a student who’d otherwise be out on the street. Another $25 gets a sturdy backpack and the workbooks they need to actually learn something.
We aren’t trying to solve the world’s politics from a keyboard. We’re just making sure that while the adults are figuring things out, these kids aren’t going hungry. It’s a tangible, honest result you can hang your hat on. One kid, one meal, one more day of safety. That’s how you actually get somewhere.
Now, if you’re the type who likes to see the “big picture” or just wants to make sure everything’s on the up-and-up, you can head over to the USAID page. It’s got all the official reports and a breakdown of how our country is helping out down there. It’s a good way to see that while things are tough, there’s a real plan in place to help these folks get back to standing on their own two feet.
