One Child at a time: Bringing – Hope and Warmth to Ukraine
Blessings to you all. Since my recent trip to Ukraine to teach business basics to aspiring entrepreneurs, many of you have reached out with the same heartfelt questions: What happens now? What does the future hold?
What Your Support Provided – Hope becomes action
Our latest shipment, one of many, was packed with essential items requested by the community to survive the winter months:
Custom Wood Stoves: Manufactured by a specialized company in Sweden.
Food Supplies: Essential pantry staples for hungry families.
Hygiene Kits: Necessary items for health and dignity.
Daily Necessities: Various items specifically requested by local leaders.
One Child at a time: Bringing Hope and Warmth to Ukraine
Hope was answered, “The relief supplies arrive by heavy truck at our partner church, serving as a vital hub before being offloaded into smaller, more agile vans. These vehicles are piloted by local heroes who navigate a landscape still marked by the scars of the 2022 invasion and the ongoing threat of aerial strikes. Operating within a two-hour radius of Kyiv means these drivers are working in a ‘grey zone’ where air raid sirens are a constant reality and the infrastructure is frequently targeted, yet they fearlessly deliver aid to those who cannot escape the reach of the conflict.”
Restoring the Joy of Childhood
In the midst of these critical deliveries, we were also able to distribute Christmas presents. Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces is truly moving; we look forward to sharing the full report on this in January.
In a world of constant trauma and stress, it is a beautiful thing for a child to feel “seen.” Because of your support, they know they are loved and that people thousands of miles away truly care for them.
The wood stoves are fantastic, but a stove is only useful if you have fuel. People often ask, “Where does the wood come from? How do they get it?” To be honest, the logistics are handled by our incredible partners on the ground—the local church. They coordinate the sourcing and distribution of firewood to ensure those stoves keep families warm throughout the harsh winter. As you can see in the photos, the sheer volume of wood required is tremendous.
Some of our wood stoves made it to the front lines!
How You Can Help
The needs in Ukraine continue to grow, but we are not deterred. We stay focused on the individual: the one stove, the one meal, and the one child.
When we step out to help someone with nothing, we move past the noise of the world and connect as human beings. It doesn’t take a politician or a hero to make a difference; it just takes a person who cares. Helping a neighbor in need is how we show the love of Jesus in the real world. We might not be able to fix every global problem, but we can certainly make sure the person standing next to us isn’t cold or hungry.
Giving a warm stove, a meal, or a small gift does so much more than fill a physical need—it tells someone who feels invisible that they are actually seen and loved. That one simple act of kindness creates a spark of hope that can spread through an entire community. By focusing on helping just one person, you stop being a bystander and start being a light. It is a powerful reminder that even in the toughest times, simple human kindness is a force that cannot be broken.
