Reassuring News Following the Typhoon
Many concerned sponsors have reached out since Typhoon Fung-Wong swept over the Philippines. We now have reassuring news from our staff on the ground: None of our sponsored children have been harmed.

Our schools and other buildings are also reported to be undamaged following the typhoon’s passage.

However, the school and schoolyard in Taytay have been flooded once again, as has the surrounding slum area.

“Thanks to donations after last year’s flooding, we now have water pumps that speed up the process of drying out the school area again,” says coordinator Garry Coruña.

The Infanta area, where our second school is located, was hit hard—but not as severely as first feared.

“Some trees have fallen, and electricity and internet are out, but all the children are doing well,” Garry says.

All schools in the country will remain closed for the next few days, according to government directives. Over a million people in the country have been evacuated. We will update this text if we receive any new relevant information from our projects.
