Why Choose Star of Hope? We want you in the family! Why our family feels Joy!
Yes, we are a 50-year-old organization and we work in 12 Countries, where we care for and love somewhere near 20,000 kids, youth, and their families. Sure we are a 501C3 and a Guide Star Gold organization, however that is not important!
We are a family.
That is important and we share Joy and give Hope.
For us, employees, children, and you the donors are a part of the Star of Hope family.
We see the children and we help them as our own. We also see the countless children we have supported through the years who bear witness to how they also see Star of Hope as their family.
In the countries where we work, our local leaders and elders, and local board members are witnessing the same feeling; that they are part of a worldwide family.
It is a fact that many of them refrained from better-paying jobs in favor of Star of Hope’s operations. They are driven by their love for the children and find security in the membership and support of the Star of Hope family.
We are just big enough.
We are small enough to see each child but at the same time big enough to change nations.
We know the people in charge in each country personally, and they, in turn, know every child by name.
We have a very small office with a small staff so we may have extensive work where it counts, where the children are, our project countries. This minimizes both the costs and the amount of bureaucracy. It saves time and enables us to make quick decisions when the situation demands it.
For you the donors, our top-level managers are rarely further away than a phone call.
We are smart and we are serious
Since 1989 Star of Hope has been a 501 C3, and we are approved by countless review organizations. Our favorite Guide Star has us at a Gold Level, It gives our donors a sense of security that the money ends up as directed.
We are transparent with what we do, our 990 is available to the public. "We give our donors the opportunity to have direct contact with those in the project countries and welcome them to visit our projects in place.
We provide lasting help.
We give the kids something that nobody can ever take away from them: Education. We know that it is the most precious we can offer them because it gives them the will and the ability to lift their communities out of poverty and misery by their own power.
We focus on every child from an early age, giving them a good start in life and the prospect of success in adulthood. It creates a long-term perspective in all our work that leads to better lives even for future generations.
We believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our founder, Erik Gunnar Eriksson believed the same and said often, "let the little children come to me...’” This is part of the Great Commission and the pillar of all we do.
We are effective and good stewards
Our office is in Central Kansas, in a basement of a Bank. We have no glass and concrete structure or high dollar address, no airplane or fleet of vehicles. We are good stewards, so the kids and the projects can have more.
We are the Star of hope for many in need.
Our work makes us a guiding star for the vulnerable, the weak, and the needy. A bright bright spot in their existence and a source of futility. We give them light, and we give them hope. For them, we are simply the star of hope.
