For 30 years, Star of Hope has fought for children with disabilities in Eastern Europe. During the coldest months of the year, people are hit by mother nature and extra hard by freezing temperatures. All while lacking reliable heat sources. That is why we are looking for new sponsors who can extend a hand to these children!
We are proud of all the change that has taken place, but we are not done yet! The children still need us. During the coldest months of the year, we need to provide extras for the hardest-hit families and children.
In addition, the troubled situation in east Europe has led to increased challenges for them and their families. Many have lost important rehabilitation possibilities when their day center is forced to close. Others never even get access to the rehab training they so desperately need. We want to help more and more!
Therefore, we are looking for new sponsors who can extend a hand to these children.

Not a single child with a disability should be forced to live locked up in an institution! That's what we said 30 years ago, and that's how it has turned out. Today we receive these children at our day centers where they get help with everything from cognitive therapy to physiotherapy and speech pedagogy. We run support associations for the children's guardians and work actively with opinion formation to change the public's attitudes. With your help, we form a society where these children can and dare to move openly in society.

Here we work to improve the situations for children and young people with disabilities and their families. As a Latvian sponsor, you also support vulnerable families living on a subsistence level in cramped, run-down cottages and apartments. With your help, we can give them food stamps, clothes, and shoes and pull them in when they are unable to pay the electricity bill or rent.

Here you are helping to improve the life situation for children with disabilities. You support groups for the children's parents and daycare activities where Star of Hope gives the children love, knowledge, and respect. Through activities, excursions, and summer camps, the children get a chance to get out into the community.
You also help us to change the attitudes of healthcare professionals, politicians, and society at large towards children with disabilities. One of Star of Hope’s goals is for all these children to become integrated into society, to be able to go to the local school and be allowed to live with their family instead of being placed in an institution.
