From our Haitian Country Manager, unedited!
Sunday, we loaded 2 trucks with 700 food kits and 700 gallons of cooking oil to Cavaillon.
Yesterday morning both trucks left SOH parking to Cavaillon. The first truck passed Martissant at 1:45 PM. When the second truck was about to enter the area of Martissant, the bandits took the area in their possession. The 2nd truck driver returned and parked the truck in safe parking. The first truck, after passing the dangerous area of Martissant had to park waiting for the second. Meanwhile, Tony took a plane yesterday and flew to les Cayes to receive the kits.
This morning the second truck made it safely through Martissant and both trucks are on the road to Cavaillon. We are all happy that finally, the second round of food distribution will be able to be done in Cavaillon. At 2:00 PM today, we will serve the first group of 350 families in Passé-Clos, and at 4:00 PM Martineau’s group of 350 families as well.
Tomorrow morning the rest of the school materials and backpacks will be distributed in 2 community schools in each area we served in Cavaillon. We will keep you posted on any additional information as it comes.
Best regards, Myrtha
