Help with Food
On January 12th it will be two years since the earthquake struck Haiti. The devastation was staggering with 222, 270 people killed, 300,572 injured and 2.3 million left homeless. For Star of Hope, the earthquake impacted the people we work with and the 4,000 children who have access to education in our projects. We lost buildings in 3 projects and had damage to buildings in 4 other ones. Fortunately we only had 2 of our kids killed.
During these two years we have made a difference. The reconstruction of Haiti continues day by day month by month. It will take more years just to get back to where we where before the quake, but we have made sure the children who depend on us have been able to continue their education and promote steps to better health. New buildings have taken the place of the temporary "sheds" that we put up to get the chldren back in school. Buildings in other projects have been strengthened to resist both earthquakes and hurricanes. As we have built and renovated, the needs of those with disabilities has been taken into account.
Even though some great progress has been made, there remains much to finish. Can you find it in your heart to help us with a donation or by joining an upcoming StarTeam. We continue to seek opportunities for increased spiritual growth, and as always promoting social skills. We have done this with help from many donors from various countries.
